Admission to the fair is $5/adults and 12-18 year olds $2. Children younger than 12 are free. If you have any used ink cartridges, old cell phones or batteries ready to be disposed of, recycling will be available.
Come to learn…it will be fun to visit and see the 40 vendors sharing their “green” knowledge. Whether you are thinking of lawn reconstruction or tree removal to large real estate development projects, there is something for everyone.
As NC realtors, it is important to have the knowledge to share with customers who have questions on “going green”. It is not a new topic, but one that is now being discussed with great interest. One home in Lake Toxaway was built green and is available on the market today. For inquiries email me at dorothy@NCMountainLife.com or visit our website at www.NCMountainLife.com Stay tuned for more green articles.
The Jackson-Macon Conservation Alliance remains focused on keeping the Highlands-Cashiers environment pristine as possible. This plateau which is among the oldest in the world along with the combination of large amounts of rainfall and altitude has created the perfect environment for some of these unique and rare species to be found on Mother Earth. Mankind must work together with the environment to sustain this fragile environment with better building habits. With numerous building and real estate projects constantly being developed in the county, the alliance felt it was necessary to promote awareness and fight against water, air, and light pollution, and loss of forest lands and animal habitats.

The city of Asheville has asked its residents to do voluntary water conservation management due to the extreme dry summer and fall of 2007. We are not in a dire need…however, conservation is always smart water usage. Let’s work together on this and maybe we can prevent a shortage for 2008.

Are you thinking of your 2007 income tax preparation already? If so, here is a web site that will answer lots of questions, is an easy read, and will prove quite helpful. For people owning two homes, did you know that all interest on loans up to $1Million is deductible whether it is your primary residence or your second home? For those of you that have home equity loans, interest is deductible on loans up to $100,000 if your home is secured by the loan.
Here is the website. http://www.bankrate.com/brm/itax/news/taxguide/default.asp
The IRS constantly changes their deductions and tax info. Be sure to check with your accountant or financial adviser for up-to-date information.
